Dr. Carrie Murray to join the department as Assistant Professor of Roman Archaeology

The Department of Classics is pleased to announce that Dr. Carrie Murray will be joining our faculty in July 2013 as our new Roman Archaeologist. Dr. Murray has a PhD from University College London. Her research investigates the material remains of social practices in order to understand social development in early Iron Age Italy, and she has particular interests in cultural interaction between Greeks, Etruscans, Phoenicians, and Romans. She has taught at the University of Wales, Lampeter, and held post-doctorate positions on the Leverhulme Trust Greek Colonization Project in the Faculty of Classics, University of Cambridge and at the Institute for European and Mediterranean Archaeology (IEMA) at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. Most recently, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology & the Ancient World at Brown University. Currently she is co-director of the Pantelleria Project on the island of Pantelleria, Italy. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Murray to Brock University and the Department of Classics!
