Service Learning Brown Bag Talk
Published on September 24 2012
Incorporating service-learning into an existing course or developing a new service-learning course can be a daunting task especially when the class is large. CHYS 2P15 (Principles of Service Learning) typically has over 500 students enrolled, and has a required 48-hour service-learning component. The half-credit course runs over the entire academic year (September-April) each year. Getting the course up and running requires a great deal of pro-active management and keeping 500 plus service-learners on track over the Fall/Winter terms requires ongoing co-ordination. Ellen Carter will facilitate this session in TH253 (e-classroom) from noon-1pm on October 1st. Ellen is the coordinator for CHYS 2P15 with years of experience managing this service-learning course.
Ellen Carter contemplates managing 500+ students in a service-learning course in Child and Youth Studies.
