Reading Clinic BBQ a Success

Published on July 24 2012

On June 21, 2012, the Reading Clinic held its first Reading Clinic Literacy BBQ from 4-8 p.m.

The event and the bookfair was a success with visitors playing games, participating in the raffles, enjoying food and generally having a good time.

Parents stated that they loved the BBQ and would like to see another one held in the fall when school is back in session.

The Children enjoyed the games and face painting. A Special thanks goes out to the International English Language Program students and instructors and Faculty of Education students for volunteering at the event - they played a large role in the event's overall success.

The primary goal was to celebrate the year end, encourage community involvement with the Reading Clinic, support parents and children in our joint endeavours to achieve the best possible educational outcomes and raise awareness regarding our Reading Clinic program among the business sector in the Niagara Region.

By the end of the event, all of these goals were achieved.

A Special thanks also goes out to the following sponsors of the Reading Clinic Literacy BBQ: Boston Pizza, Elio's Foot Comfort Centre, Marble Slab Creamery, Zehrs - Pen Centre, Scholastics Books, Creative Nails, Brock University Bookstore, Brock University Recreation Centre, and Brock University Career Services.

This BBQ will be an annual event, likely in September in following years.
