Buildings at Brock University’s Main Campus in St. Catharines that were shut down this weekend for planned maintenance and utility upgrades have now been re-opened.

This includes Welch Hall, Scotia Bank Hall, South Block, Walker Complex, Taro Hall, Alumni Student Centre, Lowenberger Residence, Village Residence, Kenmore Centre, Harrison Hall and Rosalind Blauer Daycare Centre.

Problems experienced in Plaza Building have been resolved and the building has also been re-opened.

All other buildings on the University’s Main and East Campuses in St. Catharines were not impacted by the shutdown and have normal power and will open as regularly scheduled.

St. Catharines campus buldings expected to re-open at 10 a.m. today, except for Plaza Building (May 12, 2012)

The following buildings are anticipated to have power restored and re-open this morning by 10 a.m. as scheduled: Welch Hall, Scotia Bank Hall, South Block, Walker Complex, Taro Hall, Alumni Student Centre, Lowenberger Residence, Village Residence, Kenmore Centre, Harrison Hall and Rosalind Blauer Daycare Centre.

During preventative maintenance work in Plaza Building a problem was found with the emergency power for the building. All doors will be locked and swipe card access will be unavailable until the problem is resolved.

In the event that power cannot be restored to Plaza Building and it is still without power by 12 noon, information will be posted here on this site.

Parts of Brock will be closed this weekend (May 11 to 12)
May 9, 2012

A number of buildings at Brock University’s Main Campus in St. Catharines will be shutdown for planned maintenance and utility upgrades this weekend.

Welch Hall, Scotia Bank Hall, South Block, Walker Complex, Taro Hall, Alumni Student Centre, Plaza Building, Lowenberger Residence, Village Residences, Kenmore Centre, Harrison Hall and Rosalind Blauer Daycare Centre will all be powered down and closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, May 11 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12.

All doors will be locked and swipe card access will be unavailable at these buildings during these times. These areas will also not have network or Wi-Fi connectivity (internet, email) during the shutdown.

There will also be no phone service in Plaza Building, except for the emergency phones. Emergency phone systems in the affected buildings will be operational, however the outdoor blue strobe lights near these buildings will be out of service.

For emergency-only access to any of these affected areas, please contact Campus Security Services (x3200) to make arrangements.

In all affected areas, faculty and staff are reminded to clean out fridges and remove anything that is at risk of spoilage prior to leaving for the weekend on Friday, May 11.

In the unlikely event that power cannot be restored to these areas by 10 a.m. on Saturday, information will be posted on the Brock homepage (under “News”). Every effort will be made to communicate this decision by 7 a.m.

The rest of the University’s Main and East Campuses will have normal power and will be operational as usual.
