1000 Variations now playing on the LC Digital Art Wall

1000 Variations, a new work by mathematics professor Bill Ralph is now playing on the LC Digital Art Wall.
This work was made specifically for the busy visual and physical environment of the Learning Commons. Each image is on the screen for just a few seconds which is all the time someone walking by will have to spend on the art. The 1000 images that comprise this piece are the output of a single mathematical algorithm. This algorithm was designed so that each frame incorporates similar compositional elements as well as a new ideas for balancing colours. Although the images are outwardly different, it becomes clear after viewing several of them that they are tightly connected like being shown 1000 variations on a shared visual theme.
