Biotechnology Graduate Program

Why Choose This Program

Brock University’s Biotechnology program draws on our faculty member’s expertise in chemical and biological sciences to understand and manipulate molecules and the organisms in which these molecules occur and take part in the functions of life.
The Biotechnology program at Brock University emphasizes research and scientific training, while also imparting organizational and communication skills to students that will serve them well no matter where their career takes them. Past students have gone on to join industry, government, and academic positions, testimony to the skill set obtained during their time here.

Opportunities

During the course of graduate studies in the Biotechnology program, students will be exposed to a vast array of molecular biology and analytical techniques. Employers are seeking graduates with wider breadth of specialized skill sets. The Biotechnology program provides this opportunity.
The training of scientists demands a special set of communication skills both oral and written. Graduate students in the Biotechnology program can take a course in Scientific Writing, and they have several opportunities to give public seminars in order to become proficient at scientific communication. Most students will also attend and present their research at national and international scientific meetings. This also provides an opportunity to establish a personal network of contacts with other scientists that will accelerate and enhance a student’s career path.
