Description/use
This series of orthophotos provide excellent coverage
for the Golden Hourseshoe area and some points beyond - view
coverage index. The images have a 20 centimetre pixel resolution
and are based on colour images taken in the spring of 2002.
The images can be used with GIS software including ArcView and MapInfo. They are geo-referenced (UTM, NAD83) and can be used to reference vector layers if needed. Furthermore, the imagery can be used as a base on which vector data can be overlayed.
Images are organized by 1 km and some 2 km UTM grid square tiles.
Data Format
The images are in compressed MrSID file format.
Use Restrictions/Copyright
The data is licensed to Brock University faculty, staff and students
for teaching and research purposes only. A license agreement must
be signed before the files will be delivered. The data is under
copyright by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Viewing and printing of the digital airphotos is open to the general public.
Accessing the Data
The data is accessed using GIS (geographic information systems)
software including ArcGIS. See Map Library staff for assistance.
Obtaining a Copy of Digital Data
ORIGINAL DATA: after signing a license agreement, original data
may be burned to CD, saved to 3/4" floppy or memory stick.
IMAGE OF DATA: a static image may be obtained on 3/4" floppy, CD, memory stick or sent via e-mail.
HARDCOPY: data may be printed to the Map Library printer at a small cost per page. The University Library also has large format printing services. Ask staff for details.
