Use of the Brock University Library by High School and Special Students – Guidelines
The following guidelines are intended to ensure that students are able to visit the University Library at scheduled times.
- Students must be prepared and have basic library and research skills.
- Students and teachers must have exploited their high school library databases and public library resources prior to coming to Brock.
- Teachers should have already explored Knowledge Ontario databases with their students before requesting a Brock University session.
- Library Seminars will be conducted for grade 12 students and students in specialized programmes.
- Individual classes can be accommodated in December, during Reading Week in February, April, May and June. Small groups may be accommodated at other times of the year at the discretion of the liaison librarian.
- The University Library cannot accommodate more than 40 students at a time.
- A copy of the assignment must be submitted to a Brock liaison librarian by the teacher or the teacher-librarian preferably two weeks prior to the class visit.
- The teacher and/or teacher-librarian must remain with the class at all times. They are expected to take an active part in teaching and helping their students.
- Scheduling a visit to the University Library must be arranged by the teacher or teacher-librarian in order to centralize this service through one person.
