Minor in Earth Sciences
MSc
Brock offers one of the strongest traditional Earth Sciences/Geology degree programs in the Toronto and Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario. We offer Honours and Major programs in Earth Sciences and Environmental Geoscience. Geoscientists study the planet Earth, from the time of its formation to the present day, and attempt to predict its continued evolution. Geoscientists work to solve a diverse range of problems related to pollution, groundwater management, waste disposal, global change, volcanic and earthquake hazards, and exploration and utilization of natural resources such as oil, gas, minerals and aggregates. Field trips are an integral component of this program. At Brock, you will have the opportunity to work with faculty on local, national and international research projects.
Our Co-op in Earth Sciences program will allow you to gain valuable work experience by combining academic and work terms over 5 years.
In Ontario and throughout Canada, a license is required to practice as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.). Brock's Earth Sciences Honours and Major degree programs are designed to comply with the educational requirements for your initial licensing as a Geoscientist-in-Training, the licensing classification that leads to the P.Geo. designation established by the Association of Professional Geoscientist of Ontario.
A Minor in Earth Sciences is available if you wish to obtain an overview of Earth Sciences while pursuing your degree in another subject area.
