Helping you help yourself
Student Development Centre
The SDC, through its Academic-Zone Learning Services, offers a number of free services to all students. In the Hildebrand Learning Centre, A-Z Learning Services staffs provide one-to-one academic skills tutoring assistance, Monday to Friday, via a drop-in service. Any student needing assistance with study skills, essay writing or problem-solving in math and science may come to the posted drop-in sessions and receive support on a first-come, first-served basis. For more in-depth support, academic consultations with a Learning Services Instructor are also available on a drop-in basis during scheduled hours in the Learning Commons Consultation room ST227 or by staff or faculty referral.
Workshops designed to enhance students' study skills are scheduled regularly in the Learning Commons. Topics range from essay writing to critical thinking. Students are encouraged to sign up in advance, but are always welcome to join a workshop taking place in the Commons, if there is space.
Also, the SDC's Leadership Development Services offers skills-based training in the Learning Commons to enhance students' leadership skills.
