Important information regarding BlackBerry Purchases for Brock Faculty and Staff
Please note that the notice only applies to BlackBerry's running OS 4,5,6 and 7. BB10 devices including the Z10 and Q10 do not require the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to access Brock Exchange e-mail.
If you are a faculty or staff member on the Microsoft Exchange system, then you will have to make note of a few important points before purchasing your BlackBerry.
First, to access your Exchange account from your BlackBerry, you will be required to use a corporate/enterprise data plan from your BlackBerry service provider. A consumer plan will not be able to connect to the Brock University Exchange system, and you will not be able to receive your email on your BlackBerry. When purchasing your BlackBerry, please mention to the sales representative that you wish to activate your BlackBerry using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Second, once your BlackBerry has been purchased, you will need to contact User Services so that you can purchase a BlackBerry Enterprise Server license and have your BlackBerry activated. The license requires a one time fee of $70-$80 depending on the ITS wholesale purchase price. Once your BlackBerry is activated, you will be able to access your email, contacts, and calendar on your BlackBerry.
