Associate Professor
Kevin Kee is the Canada Research Chair of Humanities Computing, and an Associate Professor, as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill University. Before arriving to Brock in 2005, he was a Director and Project Director at the National Film Board of Canada (1999-2002), and an Assistant Professor at McGill University (2002-2005). He researches best practices for the design, development and use of computer simulations and serious games for history. This research has been funded by the Canada Research Chairs Program, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Heritage Canada, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, and Brock University. He leads the “Simulating History” research project, and directs the “Simulating History” research lab at Brock University. Recently, he organized the “Interacting with Immersive Worlds Conference”, and helped create nGen -- an interactive media generator located in Niagara. He has written extensively on history computing and has developed history Web sites, simulations and games. He also specializes in Canadian cultural history. He received the 2005 Journal of the Canadian Historical Association Prize for his article "Bobby Sox to Bach: Charles Templeton and the Commodification of Popular Protestantism in the Postwar Era (Journal of the Canadian Historical Association, 15:1 (2004)). His book, Revivalists: Marketing Religion in English Canada, was published by McGill-Queen's University Press in 2006.
