Just the right experience

The Faculty of Graduate Studies recently rolled out its welcome mat – along with a hot breakfast – for students beginning master’s and doctoral programs this year at Brock.
The Faculty’s annual orientation breakfast and marketplace at Pond Inlet early in the semester was a community gathering for new graduate students as well as faculty and staff involved in graduate programming.
“Graduate education at Brock is growing by leaps and bounds,” said Marilyn Rose, dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, to the crowd of 180 people. “At the same time, we want to ensure that the grad experience for our students is personal – not too big, not too small, but just right.
“We are very invested in your success,” Rose said to the students in attendance. “When I look around the room, I know that I am looking at the faces of the future. You will go forward with your graduate credentials and you will shape the future.”
One of those faces was Sarah Clemente, a new student in the marketing stream of the MSc Management program. Clemente, who recently graduated from the University of Guelph, made Brock her first choice for graduate school. She plans to focus her graduate research on marketing trends in the food and beverage industry.
“I really think Brock will broaden my horizons,” she said while browsing through the student services marketplace. “This is a great opportunity for me.”
