Celebrating success


A Brock PhD student in biology is the University's first Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship recipient. Ellen Robb, who is also Brock's incoming president of the Graduate Students’ Association, will receive $150,000 over three years to pursue her studies into the cellular mechanisms underlying the positive health effects of resveratrol, an active ingredient in red wine. Robb, who is from Niagara-on-the-Lake, works under the supervision of Jeff Stuart from the Department of Biological Sciences. She started working in his lab as an undergraduate student in 2006.

Bill Tays, Psychology PhD student, was awarded an "AgePlus" prize from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Aging for the article he published last year in Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience. The award comes with a Certificate of Excellence and a $1,000.00 cash prize.

Gillian Dale, Psychology MA student, won this year's Donald O. Hebb award for the best student poster presentation at the recent meeting of the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour, and Cognitive Science, held in York, UK.
