Award Criteria

Faculty of Education Alumni Achievement Awards are awarded in one of four categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Distinguished Alumni Award, Aboriginal Education Award and the Young Alumni Award.

Categories

Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honours an exceptional individual whose extraordinary lifetime personal, volunteer and professional achievements make them an inspirational role model for future Faculty of Education graduates. This individual has significantly impacted the field of education.

Criteria

• Must have graduated from a Brock University Faculty of Education degree or certificate program at least five (15) years prior to nomination
• Outstanding success in professional, academic or research field
• Exceptional contribution to society
• Commitment to public and community service
• Outstanding volunteer activities
• Ongoing commitment to Brock University
• Is an exemplary role model for current and future students

Alumni may nominate themselves and are required to provide two letters of reference. Current Brock University faculty and staff are ineligible for this award.

Distinguished Alumni Award
This award honours an individual who has distinguished himself/herself in academia or professional practice.

Criteria

• Have graduated from a Brock University Faculty of Education, degree or certificate program at least five (5) years prior to nomination
• Demonstrated excellence and success in professional, academic or research field
• Commitment to public and community service
• Outstanding volunteer activities
• Ongoing commitment to Brock University
• Is an exemplary role model for current and future students

Alumni may nominate themselves and are required to provide two letters of reference. Current Brock University faculty and staff are ineligible for this award.

Aboriginal Education Award
This award honours an individual of Aboriginal ancestry who has made a significant and ongoing contribution to Aboriginal education and the Aboriginal community.

Criteria

• Open to all Aboriginal people in Canada who have graduated from a Brock University Faculty of Education degree or certificate program
• Demonstrated excellence and success in professional, academic or research field
• Commitment to public and Aboriginal community service
• Outstanding volunteer activities
• Ongoing commitment to Brock University
• Is an exemplary role model for current and future students

Alumni may nominate themselves and are required to provide two letters of reference. Current Brock University faculty and staff are ineligible for this award.

 

Young Alumni Award
This Award honours individuals who are 40 years of age or younger at the time of nomination, and whose early accomplishments merit formal recognition.

Criteria

• Must have graduated from a Brock University Faculty of Education degree or certificate program
• Commitment to public and community service
• Outstanding volunteer activities
• Ongoing commitment to Brock University
• Is an exemplary role model for current and future students
• Recognized as a leader among their peers

Alumni may nominate themselves and are required to provide two letters of reference. Current Brock University faculty and staff are ineligible for this award.
