Painting the pond: adventures in watercolours
Enjoy a day of watercolour adventure. Join us in the Pond Inlet, along with your watercolours for a day of spontaneous painting, rich in colour and dramatic composition. This day offers a playful approach to painting and will give you a better grasp of the techniques needed to become a better painter. A detailed materials list will be provided to all registrants prior to the class so that supplies can be purchased.

Portrait photography
There are two important elements to adding impact to any photograph. One is composition and the other is lighting. This workshop will delve into centuries-old compositional formulas from the masters that are true and proven to present you with a great understanding of how to handle a well-made portrait, and how to find and control the direction of light to achieve dynamic results, even with simple equipment. With sound theory in the classroom and lots of homework for practice, you will learn how to blend great composition with flash-filled directional lighting to achieve a winning portrait.

Mentorship in photography
Bring your skills to class and have a mentor personally guide you on to new heights. This course is designed to grow your skill set in photography. Whatever you are photographically involved in, this course will help you realize your goals. When change reaches a critical level of pressure, learning can escalate. Here the mentor will encourage the learner into change, provoking a different way of thinking. This is for the serious photographer with a DSLR that wants to further their knowledge and would like a more one on-one training. Limited enrolment, register early.

Street photography: capture moments in your city
Street photography is a reflection of everyday life – real expressions of public places and spaces that people visit every day, the street where you live, the local flea market, the abandoned barn. In this course you will learn to take candid pictures of things that you don’t notice in your daily life. We will alternate shooting field trips and in-class critique sessions and each field trip will involve a new challenge to develop your skills and introduce you to new techniques.

Guitar
Be the life of a party, romantic picker or campfire superstar. Who needs karaoke when you can play your guitar to entertain friends and family with a sing-along? It is easier than you think to learn the basic chords and strumming patterns that allow you to play any style of music. It’s never too late to learn how to have fun with this beautiful instrument. Please bring your own guitar.

Learn the ukulele
Want to play some music at the next campfire or jam session, but don’t want to carry around a large instrument? The ukulele is a four-string member of the guitar family that’s becoming very popular in mainstream music and with music lovers looking to learn a new instrument. In this course, you’ll learn the theory and basics of playing the “uke,” such as picking and chords. You’ll be sharing your tune in no time. Please bring your own ukulele and your enthusiasm.
