Using the knowledge and skills that she developed through her own education — a Bachelor of Physical Education (Brock University), a Bachelor of Education (UWO), and a Master of Education (Brock University) — Janet taught in Brock University’s Department of Kinesiology from 1993 until 2016, specializing as a movement educator. Having the pleasure of teaching many undergraduate courses allowed Janet to vary her pedagogical techniques and delivery. This background has provided the foundation for her new role as Experiential Education Coordinator for the graduate programs within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. As a Registered Kinesiologist, Janet now uses all of these tools to guide students through graduate programs as they collaborate with a wide range of community partners.

The spring of 2017 offers Janet the distinct honour of co-leading a group of Brock students as they travel to Namibia and South Africa for a co-curricular experience called Brock Abroad.  This opportunity fits perfectly into her keen interest of stimulating positive change to help create resilient communities. As a lifelong learner, she welcomes the experience.

Janet has many roles, but the one she is most proud of is being a mother. Her positive energy comes from the vitality of her three children. When not spending time with her family, Janet volunteers with numerous organizations within the Niagara region. Her role modelling has transformed her family as they also participate in community engagement. When not in Niagara, Janet and her family love spending time at their cottage.
