BIOGRAPHY
Anne Michaels was born in 1958 in Toronto. She attended the University of Toronto, where she received an Honours B.A. in English. Her most recent publication is her highly acclaimed novel, Fugitive Pieces (1996). She has published two collections of poetry to date: The Weight of Oranges (1986), and Miner's Pond (1991). Michaels’ poetry has been awarded the Commonwealth Prize for the Americas, and the Canadian Authors Association Award. Miners Pond was shortlisted for both the Governor General’s Award and the Trillium Award. Michaels continues to live and work in Toronto.
