BIOGRAPHY
Gwladys V. Downes was born on April 22, 1915, in Victoria BC. She attended the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto, and the Sorbonne, and worked as a French professor at the University of Victoria. As well as writing her own poetry, Downes translates the work of Quebec poets.
