Aspiring or established entrepreneurs still have five days left to submit their application to Blueprint, a university-wide business competition that supports and rewards entrepreneurship and innovation

Blueprint is organized by the Goodman School of Business’s BioLinc, Brock’s on campus business incubator. The competition, now in its fourth year, is designed to kick-start the business ventures of Brock students and alumni by providing finalists and winners with expert advice, mentorship and up to $10,000 in funding.

Great ideas can come any discipline, and the Blueprint competition is open to current Brock students from any faculty or program and Brock alumni who have graduated within the last two years. If you are applying as a team, at least 50 per cent of the members must be Brock students or recent alumni.

Last year’s finalists included a group of students looking to develop a convenient delivery service to make purchasing groceries easier for other students, a web-based speaking aid which learns with children, a product to remove pesticides and toxins from crops, and a venture comprised of student athletes who use pure water technology to clean solar panels and the exterior of homes. The winner of the competition left with $10,000 to help their businesses grow.

More information about applying to Blueprint is available at brocku.ca/blueprint. Applications are accepted until Jan. 23, 2015.

The top 10-15 applicants will be provided with specific training to prepare them for the presentation of their ideas to the Blueprint Advisory Committee. The best entrepreneurs will pitch their businesses to a panel of industry judges on March 12.
