Work crews are digging a hole at the International Centre this week to prepare for a new statue of Confucius.

Workers are preparing the ground for the base of the statue, which will commemorate the establishment of Brock’s new Confucius Institute. The unique statue of the ancient Chinese educator and philosopher is a gift of partner institution Minjang University.

The institute will be located in the International Centre. It will offer an array of programs, special events and exhibitions to promote Chinese language and culture in Niagara.

Everyone is welcome at the formal grand opening of the Confucius Institute at Brock on Sunday, May 15. The event will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre.
