Charles Burton, associate professor of Political Science, had several media appearances, including:

• an interview with Mike Hornbrook on allegations of Chinese cyber-espionage against the Canadian government on the CBC News World Report on Feb .18. Burton has uploaded an audio version of the interview here (MP3 file). Burton’s viewpoint can also be read in the CBC News article “Hackers after weapon information: expert.” The article spawned subsequent articles around the Internet.
• a UPI article “Canadians suspect China in cyberattacks“
• the MSNBC story “Canadian Government Websites Hacked by Chinese Cybercriminals”

• a Radio Canada International Mandarin service on implications of unrest in Libya on China was broadcast on Feb. 24. The interview can be heard at Radio Canada International Mandarin service.

Rudi Kroeker, chair of Brock’s board of trustees, was quoted in the article “University selects architect for downtown arts school” in the St. Catharines Standard on Feb. 18. The article was about the selection of an architect for the future home of the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. (Related story)

A group of Brock students were quoted in the article “March Break is a work of heart for students” in the St. Catharines Standard on Feb. 19. The trip is part of the Alternate Spring Break program. (Related story)

Kevin Cavanagh, Brock’s spokesperson, was quoted in the article “St. Catharines to spruce up downtown with performing arts school, theatre” in the Globe and Mail on Feb. 20. The article was published after the hiring of Diamond and Schmitt Architects for the downtown Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. He was also quoted in the article “An arts centre for the people, by the people” in the St. Catharines Standard.

The Daily Commercial News had an update on the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex entitled “EllisDon continues work on Niagara Health and Bioscience Research Complex” on Feb. 22. It also published an update in the downtown performing arts complex.

Dan Malleck, associate professor of Community Health Sciences, was quoted in the article “Ontario plans to loosen liquor laws at festivals” in the Globe and Mail on Feb. 23.

Ian Brindle, Vice-President Research, was quoted in the article “Bio-sciences centre key to Brock’s future” in the St. Catharines Standard on Feb. 25.

Kevin Gosine, assistant professor of Sociology, has been quoted in several articles about the future DSBN Academy and the Pathways to Education program. Among them was “Prof has doubts about the DSBN Academy” in the St. Catharines Standard.

President Jack Lightstone was quoted in the article “Get me a job — or give me my money back” in Macleans on Feb. 28.

Zoe Branigan-Pipe is working at Brock’s Hamilton campus this year teaching current and future teachers to embrace, adopt and exploit technology, the Internet and social media. An article on her work, entitled “Brock University educator teaches tech to teachers,” was in the Hamilton Spectator on March 2.
