Rec Services holds new winter camp

Even as it snows and blows outside, kids can keep active with a new winter camp organized by Recreation Services.

Snowfest is a gymnasia-based program for children aged seven to 13 years. The camp will be Jan. 4 to 7 and include sports, swimming and other physical activities, said Norm Westbury, camp co-ordinator and Recreation Services facility supervisor.

The goal is to give kids some fun activities during their week off school, he said. Possible activities include badminton, racquetball and use of Brock’s indoor rowing tank.

“It will be a fun atmosphere.”

This is the first year for the camp, which will be in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium. Parents can sign up their children for the whole four days, or for individual days, which cost $30 each.

To register, come to the Walker Complex Welcome Desk or call 905-688-5550 x4060. The deadline is Dec. 15.

Recreation Services is also offering its Junior Lifeguard Winter Holiday Camp for children. Participants must be age eight to 15 and be able to swim 25 metres and continuously tread water for two minutes.
