A long-time Earth Sciences professor has been named editor-in-chief of a prestigious international journal in his field.

Uwe Brand has been invited to serve as editor-in-chief of Chemical Geology, an appointment that “reflects Uwe’s international standing as a leading carbonate geochemist, and brings considerable prestige to the Department of Earth Sciences and to the university,” said Martin Head, Earth Sciences chair.

Brand, who has been at Brock for 30 years, holds a Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence. He is pleased that Brock and Canada are represented on the international editorial board.

“We’ll be able to advertise that Chemical Geology now has an office at Brock University,” Brand said.

He will handle submissions in low temperature stable and radiogenic isotopes, carbonate geochemistry, paleoclimate and paleooceanography.

One of the leading scientific journals, Chemical Geology is published 44 times per year by Elsevier.
