Sochi Winter Olympic Games to be shown in Market Hall

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games begin Feb. 6, with competition and the opening ceremonies Feb. 7 at 11 a.m.

Due to the nine-hour delay from Sochi, Russia to Ontario, viewers will generally be waking up to updates of medalists as competition often begins at midnight and runs through 2 p.m. ET.

The screen in Market Hall will be on each day from Feb. 6-Feb. 23 (University is closed Feb 17-18) and will air CBC’s live coverage and then afternoon and evening replays.

It provides students and staff an opportunity to watch the games while studying, socializing or eating.

A schedule of Olympic events can be found here.
