Unseasonably High Temperatures and Annual Main Campus Switch from Cooling to Heating
Posted November 3, 2015
In anticipation of the arrival of fall and cooler temperatures, Facilities Management trades staff have prepared the Main Campus heating systems for winter operation. Due to the unseasonably high outside temperatures that we are experiencing, some areas on the Main Campus will experience high internal daytime temperatures due to cooling no longer being available. Due to the type of heating and cooling systems that are used on the Brock University Main Campus, many buildings are not capable of heating and cooling during the same cycle. Heating and cooling is provided to the majority of Main Campus buildings from the cogeneration plant. Stand-alone heating and cooling systems are provided for Cairns Family Health Bioscience Complex, Plaza Building, Kenmore Center, Harrison Hall, Lowenberger Residence, Village Residence and all satellite campuses. Facilities Management staff are working to make the Main Campus as comfortable as possible by bringing cool fresh air into the areas that are normally cooled in the summer by the central chilling plant.
