Status of Campus Elevators

Notification of Unplanned Power Disruption - Main and East Campus - Monday, July 21, 2014

Please be advised that today at approximately 2:00 pm Brock University East and Main Campuses experienced an unplanned power interruption which was caused by a problem originating from Horizon Utilities. The outage caused power to be transferred to an alternate feed. This will require Facilities Management to transfer power back to normal feed at 3:00 pm. Occupants may notice a short (5 second) power blip at this time. Brock University Facilities Management staff are in the process of verifying all building systems affected by the power interruption.

Update: Notification of Planned Steam Shutdown- Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex - Friday July 18, 2014

Please be advised that the steam boilers that were shut down for maintenance operations throughout the weekend have been turned back on and autoclaves are now operational.

Notification of Consultant Work (Asbestos Survey) – Starting Monday July 21st, 2014

Campus project to gather info for new asbestos-location system. Buildings include: Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Kenmore Centre, Taro Hall, Student Alumni Centre, Rosalind Blauer Daycare Centre, Harrison Hall, Scotiabank Hall, South Block, Rodman Hall, 573 Glenridge and Plaza Building.

Notification of Planned Power Interruption - Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex - Friday July 18th, 2014

Please be advised that on Friday July 18th, 2014 at 6:30 am there will be a momentary power interruption to the “normal” power supply for the East side of the CFHBRC building. There will not be any power interruption to the West end of the building and there not be any power interruption to any of the Emergency, Life Safety or UPS circuits in the building. This momentary interruption to normal power on the east side of the building will mainly affect offices and bench top equipment (east half) not connected to the “red” receptacles. This interruption is anticipated to be approximately 2 minutes in duration.

Please be advised that on Friday July 18, 2014 at approximately 2:00 pm, steam boilers will be down for a maintenance operations throughout the weekend being turn back on Monday July 21, 2014 at approximately 10:00 am. The autoclaves will not be operational during the shutdown within the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex. Alternate autoclaves are available in Mackenzie Chown H Block 226. Signage will be posted, on each room containing an autoclave, by Facilities Management as a reminder that they are not to be used. Once work has been completed the signage will be removed. A notification will be sent out once all work is complete.

Notification of Painting - Plaza Building - Starting Thursday July 10, 2014

Please be advised that beginning Thursday July 10, 2014, contractors will be painting the main corridors of Plaza building at the east and west ends near elevators. This work will begin on the 6th floor and contractors will work their way down through each level over the course of approximately 3 weeks. Contractors will be using an air scrubber to mitigate any odours from the zero VOC paint being used. There are no corridor disruptions anticipated. Please exercise caution when traveling through area of work.

Notification of Contractor Work - Campus Wide Roofing Preventative Maintenance Inspections - Starting Monday July 7th, 2014

Please be advised that roofing contractors will be completing Annual Roof Preventative Maintenance Inspections of buildings campus wide. Work is anticipated start on Monday July 7th until approximately Friday August 1st, 2014 weather permitting. Work will take place daily Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please forward this message to members of your department who may be impacted. Only a few members of each department have been included on this email. Reminder: Entrance Change to One Way Only - East Campus Parking Lot EA - Starting Thursday April 24th, 2014

A reminder that starting tomorrow, Thursday April 24th, 2014, the entrance that currently services Parking Lot EA on the south east corner of the International Centre will be available to one way exit traffic only. The entrances on the north west and north east side of International Centre will continue to serve as an entrance and exit from the parking lot. Please click here to see map of traffic flow.

Please be advised that one set of the east end entrance doors, including the accessible door operator to the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research are currently unavailable for use. A permanent solution for door replacement is being investigated. Accessible access is available via the north and south entrances of the building.
