ArcGIS for Desktop Student Copy
ArcGIS for Desktop with extensions is available for download. Before you download and install a copy of the software on your personal computer, please follow these instructions. Please note that your installation will time out 365 days following the installation date of the software.
- Installing and authorizing ArcGIS software may take a few hours.
- ArcGIS is a windows-based product.
- We give out ONE authorization code per student only!
Step 1. The latest version of ArcGIS software cannot be installed on a computer that has a previous version of ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Server installed; if necessary, uninstall previous versions of ArcGIS Desktop.
Step 2. Obtain an authorization code by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org using your BROCK EMAIL account or visit the Brock University Map Library in Mackenzie Chown Complex, C306 to request a code.

- Your department
- Your Brock student ID number
Step 3. Visit www.esri.com/EducationEdition and login with your Global Esri Account or sign-up for your account if you don’t already have one.
Step 4. Read and familiarize yourself with “ArcGIS Desktop Installation Guide”. Then, download the software by clicking on the Download button for ArcGIS for Desktop.
Step 5. Run the downloaded .exe file to extract the associated installation files noting the storage location on your computer.
Step 6. Using "MY COMPUTER" double-click setup.exe to begin the installation process OR continue through the autorun setup wizard for ArcGIS for Desktop.
Step 7. After installation is complete you will see the ArcGIS ADMINISTRATOR Wizard. Select Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use and click Authorize Now.
Step 8. Continue through the authorization wizard to activate your student copy of ArcGIS for Desktop.
